January Update

by Thomas and Rebecca on January 17, 2008

Our beloved friends!

We thank you so much for your prayers and support for us! In these days we are really “homesick” for all of you, because last year in January we had the Chance to see many of you! We really miss you all and we are so thankful to have you in our lives!

We want to thank our Lord and give him all honour for every thing he did in our life and in the last year! It’s just amazing how he opened doors and gave us contacts with people from Umbertide!

Pray for Debora, she is a Basketball Player in the 1st league form Italy. She lives just above us and we have a great friendship with her. Often we have dinner together or just a Coffee after Lunch. Rebecca could share the Gospel quite often with her and she started to read the Gospel of John. Please pray that she will seek the Lord and come to know Jesus as her Savoir and Lord!

In December we enjoyed the visit of a choral group from Frontier School of the Bible in Wyoming.  The group came on December 15th and sang a cappella Christmas songs dressed in Dickens’s-like, old English, costumes from the 1800's.  The group put on 2 performances, one at the hospital from Umbertide, the other one Sunday evening in our little Church room. The personal form the hospital and also our friends and the people who came to our Church, really enjoyed them. Our TEAM colleague organized the group's itinerary and accompanied them around in spite of being somewhat under the weather herself. We hope this will become a yearly tradition. There is definitely an open door for this type of creative ministry.
Saturday, the 15th we prayed so hard, because it was snowing and the whole group was still blocked in the traffic! At 4pm they arrived, just in time to start the concert!!! We were so thankful, because also the mayor of Umbertide came and listened to the short message from Thomas!

Sunday evening we started at 6 pm with the concert and at the beginning there have been just a couple of people! But than, when I turned around, I saw our neighbour who came! It was such a surprise! Her Mum was outside with the dog, so I went out to stay with the puppy and she could go in! They liked it and Michela the daughter didn’t leave before the testimony! So we pray that the Word will work in her and the others who came! In all we had 20 visitors that evening, which is really a lot!  At The hospital it was packed! I think we have been around 80 people in the meeting hall! That afternoon at the hospital was also to say good bye to Kristiana and her Grandma and to thank the personal for all the work they did for them! It was nice, because Kristiana herself spoke to them to thank for everything. I think the Doctors and the Physiotherapist were touched by the words and music!

We pray that the Lord will put in them the desire to get to know him! We would love to start a Bible study with some of them! Please pray, that our neighbours, friends and other people will see JESUS in our lives and that they feel the need to find out the difference!

Pray also for Nicola and Cristina. They came to both concerts and are involved in the Catholic Church. We want to invite them for dinner next week, so pray with us, that the Lord will guide us and prepare the evening for HIS glory!
Thank you so much for your partnership with us. Pray that God would surprise us in 2008 with increasing evidences of his kingdom taking root and growing here in Umbertide!

In Christ, your friends and servers in Italy, Thomas and Rebecca
